Studied chemistry (diploma) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. PhD in physical chemistry at the University of Hamburg. From 2003 to 2019, head of the nanochemistry group in the Department of Energy and Semiconductor Research at Carl-von-Ossietzky University Oldenburg (2003-2013 assistant professor for Experimental Solid State Physics). 2003-2004 research stay at the Technion (Haifa/Israel).

From December 2019 until November 2023 in the research group with a focus on X-Ray absorption techniques.
